A logistics automation company adding AutoStore on top of 20 years of field experience in Korea
Expansion — a sharp rise in orders turning into installations and revenue
- KION's Supply Chain Solutions segment, to which Dematic belongs (named 'Intelligent Automation Solutions' from 2026), posted 2025 order intake of EUR 3.599 billion (+39.5%) and revenue of EUR 3.071 billion (+4.4%). In the first half of 2026 the segment's revenue rose 17.6% to EUR 1.629 billion.
- Parent KION Group had 42,175 employees (full-time equivalents) as of December 31, 2025, a slight adjustment from 42,719 at the end of 2024. At the end of June 2026 the figure was 42,403.
- Dematic entered Korea in 2006 and marks its 20th year there this year. The company says its Korean subsidiary has more than 50 employees, 70% of whom work in customer service and support.
Decisions within a year
- Dedicated AutoStore team in 2026 it set up a new sales organization in Korea dedicated to AutoStore. Since 2026 it has been building Coupang's AutoStore system, the largest in Asia, and it treats multi-shuttle and AutoStore as the two pillars of its Korean business.
- Expanding mixed-case palletizing: in 2025 it supplied an integrated solution automating every logistics process at Lotte Chilsung Beverage's Bupyeong distribution center, and plans to actively extend the mixed-case palletizing proven there across the Korean market.
- Applying physical AI at NVIDIA GTC Berlin in October 2026, parent KION showed the 'Robotic Case Picker (RoCaP)', an autonomous mobile robot that uses AI cameras and grippers to recognize, pick and stack cases, along with a digital twin, and said simulation-based validation cut on-site installation time by 60%.
People they will look for
- AutoStore sales and solution consultants — with a newly formed dedicated team, it needs people who can analyze customer warehouses and present design proposals
- PLC and controls commissioning engineers — it needs people to install and stabilize large AutoStore and shuttle systems at Korean sites
- Customer service and maintenance engineers — with 70% of its Korean staff in service, post-installation operational support is the core of the business
For hiring managers
Engineers who know logistics automation commissioning and PLCs are sought by Korean logistics automation companies, e-commerce and 3PL distribution centers, and the Korean subsidiaries of global automation companies alike. With large project installations continuing, service and controls staff need to be secured in advance.
For job seekers
Experience commissioning automated storage (AS/RS), shuttles or sorters, or operating automation at large distribution centers, is what this company values most right now.
