A cooking robot company expanding from kitchens to factories
Rollout — Proof at one chain store spreading to multiple stores
- Founded in February 2018 in Tokyo, the company runs two businesses: cooking robots for restaurant chains and industrial robots for food factories and central kitchens.
- From February to October 2025, it introduced its stir-fry cooking robot I-Robo 2 in turn at eight stores of the ramen chain IPPUDO, automating fried rice cooking.
- After introducing I-Robo 2 at a Lawson pilot store in July 2025, the company said in-store cooked side-dish sales over the past year rose about 20% from the same period a year earlier.
Decisions within a year
- In August–September 2026 it added I-Robo 2 at three more Lawson stores (Ebina, Yokohama and Koto Ward, Tokyo), bringing the number of Lawson stores using the robot to four.
- In August 2026 CSS Holdings invested JPY 399.97 million in Series E preferred shares.
- It will open Kitchen MAGIC ROAD, a restaurant that saves labor with cooking robots, in Kabutocho, Nihonbashi, Tokyo on October 28, 2026; in June it showcased T-Robo, an image-recognition-based palletizing robot, at FOOMA JAPAN 2026.
People they will look for
- Robot field engineer Installation and maintenance of I-Robo 2 as it spreads to more chain stores
- Vision and control software engineer — Image recognition and safety control for T-Robo, which is used without programming
- Restaurant and food factory sales — Extending results from pilot stores to other chains and factories
For hiring managers
Cooking robot and food factory automation talent is sought by Korean service robot companies and the automation organizations of major food companies alike. As the company is centered on its Japanese headquarters, it is best to meet robot engineers who can work in Japanese in advance.
For job seekers
Experience personally installing and running robots in restaurant kitchens or food factories is what this company values most right now. Working-level Japanese widens the opportunities further.
