A company automating Japanese worksites by giving robot hands a sense of touch
Expansion — extending visuotactile robot hands proven in food plants to manufacturing and agricultural sites and to AI training data
- A Japanese startup founded in October 2021, with headquarters in Koto-ku, Tokyo, and sites in Kyoto and Nagoya, it makes 'visuotactile' sensors that read force and slip with a camera, as well as robot hands (company press release).
- In June 2025 it launched a subscription service for food-packing and frying-feed robots starting at JPY 250,000 per month, and in August 2025 it was selected, together with seven companies including Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Yaskawa Electric and Yamaha Motor, for a NEDO project to develop a shared platform for more efficient robot system integration (SI) (fiscal 2025 to 2027).
Decisions within a year
- Vegetable harvesting robot in November 2025 it said it had introduced into a plant factory a lettuce harvesting robot developed at the request of PLANTX, an operator of artificial-light plant factories. It detects slip through tactile feedback and adjusts its grip force.
- VTLA foundation model dataset in July 2026 it was selected, together with Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Osaka University, FANUC and Yaskawa Electric, for a METI and NEDO (GENIAC) project to collect vision, touch, language and action data from manufacturing sites. The period runs from August 2026 to July 2027.
- AI imitation learning robot system: it presented a robot system combining visuotactile sensor data with AI imitation learning at Robot Technology Japan 2026 (Aichi Sky Expo) on June 11 to 13, 2026.
People they will look for
- AI and robotics engineer (imitation learning, physical AI) — the VTLA dataset project and development of the imitation learning robot system
- Robot system integrator and solutions engineer — deployment at food, agricultural and manufacturing sites and support for SI partners
- Robot control and computer vision engineer — integrating visuotactile robot hands into real machines and applying them on site
For hiring managers
People with experience in imitation learning and touch-based manipulation are sought in Korea too, by both humanoid startups and the robot research units of large companies. This company hires for roles based in Tokyo and Kyoto, so for Korean robotics talent able to work in Japan it is an opportunity to build overseas experience.
For job seekers
Experience applying imitation learning or reinforcement learning for robot manipulation on real robots, together with experience installing robots directly at food or manufacturing sites, is what this company values most right now.
