Banseog note · 2026-10-25
Expanding from autonomous driving development tools to an operating system for physical AI
Expansion — growing its vehicle OS and data fleet with Japanese automakers and Korean parts makers and universities
- On its careers page the company says 1,000 engineers work together there, including 40 former CTOs and 30 former founders. It describes having 24 locations worldwide, including Seoul, and counting 18 of the world's top 20 automakers as customers.
- On July 21, 2026 it launched 'Dana', an agentic platform for developing, testing, deploying and operating physical AI in one place, with Nissan, Komatsu, Traton and Motional as early users. The company said some vehicle development stages have been shortened from months to days.
Decisions within a year
- Korean data fleet with LG Innotek: in March 2026 it formed a strategic partnership to combine LG Innotek's sensors, such as cameras and lidar, with its autonomous driving software. In September it began operating autonomous driving data collection and software development vehicles in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi, and will run about 20 vehicles by 2028. In April the two companies' CEOs met to discuss expanding cooperation into robots and drones.
- Vehicle OS cooperation with Nissan and Honda: in October 2026 it announced cooperation to supply its Vehicle OS for the development of Nissan's AI-defined vehicle (AIDV) and Honda's next-generation software-defined vehicle (SDV). The relationship with Nissan dates back to Nissan's adoption of its simulation technology in 2020.
- Defense, aerospace and robot AI agreement with Chungnam National University: on March 5, 2026 the two signed a memorandum of understanding covering joint research, talent development, links to demonstration and commercialization, and operation of a joint cooperation center. For Seoul-based roles it is hiring software engineers for defense tooling and multi-drone autonomy, and a lead customer engineer (careers page).
People they will look for
- Customer engineers (Customer / Forward Deployed Engineers) — it needs people on site to support the LG Innotek data fleet and Korean customer projects, and is hiring a Seoul-based lead customer engineer and entry-level field engineers
- Defense autonomy software engineers — alongside the Chungnam National University defense, aerospace and robotics agreement, it has opened defense tooling and multi-drone autonomy roles in Seoul
- Autonomous driving data and sensor software engineers — it needs people to refine camera, lidar and other sensor data from the Korean data collection vehicles, about 20 of which will run by 2028, together with the software
For hiring managers
Engineers who know vehicle software and autonomous driving data are sought by the SDV units of Korean automotive groups, autonomous driving startups and automotive electronics suppliers alike. Now that the Korean data fleet has started running, it is time to secure engineers to handle customer sites first.
For job seekers
A background co-developing SDV or ADAS software with customers at an automaker or automotive electronics supplier, together with drone or defense autonomy experience, is what is valued most in Seoul hiring right now.
