UMC delivers first mass-produced SILITH silicon-photonics wafers from its Singapore 12-inch fab
UMC and SILITH announced first mass-production wafer delivery for SILITH 1.6T photonic ICs from UMC Singapore 12-inch manufacturing, moving the platform from development into high-volume manufacturing.
Why it matters
The first mass-production delivery demonstrates that the joint platform reached volume manufacturing for SILITH's 1.6T product and gives UMC a production reference for its silicon-photonics process, but future 400G-per-lane roadmap work and UMC's broader customer platform availability remain separate forward-looking steps.
