AMD and Anthropic agree on up to 2 GW of MI450-series AI infrastructure
AMD and Anthropic announced a strategic partnership covering deployment of up to 2 GW of AMD Instinct MI450 systems, with AMD also committing up to $5 billion of strategic equity investment in Anthropic.
Why it matters
The partnership gives AMD a planned gigawatt-scale deployment path with a frontier-model company and couples hardware deployment with software co-development, but the first gigawatt was scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027 and the up-to-2-GW and up-to-$5-billion figures remain forward-looking commitments rather than completed deployment or investment.
