AMD agrees to acquire Taalas to strengthen specialized AI inference silicon
AMD announced a definitive agreement to acquire Toronto-based Taalas, whose specialized AI inference silicon technology is intended to complement AMD Instinct GPUs and strengthen AMD system-level inference solutions.
Why it matters
The agreement would add specialized inference technology and engineering expertise to AMD's AI roadmap, but the transaction remained subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals and the planned technology integration was not yet a shipping product at announcement.
