Applied Materials adds UC Berkeley as an EPIC Center research collaborator
Applied Materials announced that UC Berkeley will join its Silicon Valley EPIC Center as a research collaborator, pairing university semiconductor research with Applied equipment and process-integration capabilities to accelerate AI-computing materials and process innovation.
Why it matters
The collaboration gives university researchers access to manufacturing-relevant semiconductor R&D infrastructure and is intended to accelerate the path from research to commercialization, but it does not establish that any resulting technology is already qualified or shipping in production.
