BANSEOG OUTLOOK

AeiROBOT keeps putting its robots where someone else is the referee

AeiROBOT is a bipedal humanoid company that began in 2018 at the Hanyang University ERICA business incubator. Its third-generation ALICE finished runner-up at RoboCup in 2022 and 2023. In September 2025 a field trial of ALICE at industrial sites won regulatory special approval, and in October it reached the final five of an NVIDIA startup challenge. In June 2026 it said it would test within a year whether the robot can work at Hanwha Ocean's shipyards, and for RoboCup in Incheon in July it announced it would enter as both player and main sponsor. Banseog reads a habit here: instead of explaining its technology in its own words, it first places it before a measure others set, such as match rules, review criteria or a customer's site. A match has a scoreboard; a shipyard does not. That is why Banseog sees setting pass standards with customers as the next challenge.

Banseog analysis
The next company challengeUnlike a competition with a scoreboard, factories and shipyards have no fixed pass line, so work with customers to set which tasks at what level count as usable, and send the results back into the design of the next robot generation.
Questions before joining
  1. Who sets the pass standard for this trial, and when?
  2. How do failure records from a trial site get back to design?
  3. When competition preparation and customer trials overlap, how are people divided?
Shipyard testing proceedsA test with no scorecard

The company has said it aims to finish verification with Hanwha Ocean within a year. Deciding what numbers judge rough-terrain walking, carrying and tool use may become important.

Preparing its own plantThe gap between test units and production units

Plans have been announced for a head office and production site on the ERICA campus. Ways to repeat small runs of test robots at the same quality may become important.

Preparing for use in manufacturingWhen the judge becomes a customer

ALICE's fourth generation targets commercial use at manufacturing sites in 2028. Once customers are the evaluators, setting service and support standards first may become important. These are conditional stages, not confirmed dates or hiring plans.

FUTURE TALENT SHIFT

How responsibilities may expand

Follow the responsibility that runs from competition and trial results to a robot customers can use. Check individual postings for actual duties and qualifications.

Banseog analysis
Walking and control engineer
Developing control that keeps moving through a match without falling→Defining the performance numbers customers will accept on stairs, ladders and unstable floors
Actuator design
Developing actuators with better performance and cost→Bringing failure records from trial sites into the next actuator generation
Robot AI
Teaching motions for demonstrations→Gathering field workers' motions and teaching them as repeatable tasks
Field trial lead
Running events and demonstrations→Setting pass standards with customers and writing test results into reports
Safety lead
Managing safety in test spaces→Proposing safety standards for humanoids beside people where no rules exist
Production engineering
Assembling test robots→Designing processes that make small-batch quality repeatable

CAREER LENS

Experience passing someone else's test, and building the test itself

Beyond building robots, look for times you delivered results in front of an outside measure, such as a competition, review or customer test, and times you set the evaluation standard yourself. Adjacent experience suggests connections, not eligibility or a personal-fit verdict.

Experience to show in your career history

✓

Improving control or design within the rules of a robot competition

✓

Setting evaluation items and pass standards for a customer site test

✓

Proposing safety standards for a product with no rules or certification

✓

Analyzing failure records from testing and changing the next design

✓

Measuring field workers' motions or gathering them as data

✓

Building several prototypes at the same quality

Where adjacent experience can lead

Robot competition teams and university labs

Solving problems within rules and deadlines can connect to field trial teams.

Shipbuilding and heavy industry production engineering

Knowing the order of work and hazards on site is the connection.

Electric actuator and motor design

Experience with actuator performance and cost.

Test evaluation and certification

Writing test plans and evaluation reports.

Robot motion learning

Teaching robots from human motion.

Small-batch manufacturing

Building complex equipment stably in small numbers.

Questions before joining

  1. Who sets the pass standard for this trial, and when?
  2. How do failure records from a trial site get back to design?
  3. When competition preparation and customer trials overlap, how are people divided?
  4. Does this role sit with bipedal ALICE 4 or wheeled ALICE M1?
  5. How will this role's location and work change after moving to the new campus facility?

Banseog analysis
Hanyang ERICA, AnsanThe campus where the company grew

It began at the business incubator, and a September 2026 agreement set out plans for a head office and research and production site in the campus innovation park. No completion date is presumed.

Robot developmentActuator designUniversity links
Hanwha Ocean shipyardsA test ground with no scorecard

This trial was announced in June 2026. It reads as a stage for checking whether walking suits sites with ladders and stairs, and timing and results are not presumed.

Flat manufacturing processesWhere wheeled ALICE works

The company has described using wheeled ALICE M1 on flat-floor processes. Unlike a match, this reads as a place where the customer's process sets the standard, and no customers are presumed.

RoboCup, IncheonAn arena for public testing

The company announced it would enter the July 2026 event as both player and main sponsor. It reads as a stage for confirming performance under public rules. Match results are not covered here.

How to test this outlook

If competitions and public trials give way to private customer delivery as the center of its work, revise this reading to prioritize production and customer support over trial design.

Banseog analysis
01How are the evaluation items of the Hanwha Ocean trial made public?
02Do results of the regulatory trial lead into safety standard discussions?
03Does the ERICA campus site lean toward research or production?
04Do trial design or industrial site roles appear in job postings?
05Which of bipedal and wheeled models reaches customer delivery first?
