Shinsegae Casa — from a furniture company to one that sells across everyday living
- Where it stands now
- Integration — after taking in JAJU and doubling in size, widening stores and brands under a new CEO
Sales in the first half of 2026 were KRW 230.5 billion, up 91.1% from a year earlier, and operating profit turned positive at KRW 3.7 billion. Second-quarter sales were KRW 119.2 billion (+104.5%) and operating profit KRW 2.4 billion.
According to Korea's National Pension Service public workplace data, the company had 287 people on the pension register in August 2026, 44 (13.3%) fewer than in October 2025. Over that period 48 people joined and 85 left as the organisation was reassigned and adjusted.
- Three decisions within a year
- Acquisition of the JAJU business: in January 2026 it took over the household goods brand JAJU from Shinsegae International, widening from furniture to kitchenware, bedding and clothing. JAJU's 2024 sales were about KRW 235 billion.
- Four second-half strategies and new stores: setting out online strength, product strength, growth in the sleep market and more offline touchpoints, it decided to open 20 new Casamia and Materasso stores and 13 JAJU stores in the second half of 2026.
- CEO change: in the Shinsegae Group's regular appointments on October 23, 2026, CEO Heo Min-ho, who led CJ Olive Young for ten years, took charge of both Shinsegae Casa and Shinsegae International's cosmetics division, and former CEO Kim Hong-geuk moved to head E-mart and SSG.COM.
- Three people it will look for
- Store development and openings — must open 33 new Casamia, Materasso and JAJU stores in the second half alone
- Household goods MD and merchandise planner — must bring furniture and JAJU's kitchenware, bedding and clothing together into one company's product range
- Online commerce and brand marketer — must grow online and the brands together, as with online-only products and the mall revamp and pop-ups of women's fashion brand JAAH
- For HR
- Store-opening and household goods MD staff overlap with other furniture and living companies, household goods specialty stores and department store living teams. With a new CEO just appointed, this is when the organisation's direction is being set, so it is best to settle store-opening and product leaders first.
- For job seekers
- Experience opening several living or household goods stores at once, and specialty store merchandise planning experience, are worth the most at this company right now.
