Daesang — Fermented foods to the world, materials to bio

Where it stands now
Restructuring — reorganizing and shifting weight toward kimchi and sauce exports and pharmaceutical-grade materials

In the first half of 2026, consolidated revenue was KRW 2.2756 trillion (+3.1%) and operating profit KRW 103.5 billion (+6.9%). Operating profit in the food business rose to KRW 75.2 billion (+34.4%), while the materials business fell to KRW 31.5 billion (−35.7%).

Jongga kimchi exports were about USD 90 million in 2025, about three times the 2017 level, accounting for 55% of Korea's kimchi exports.

Three decisions within a year
  1. Acquisition of Germany's Amino: in December 2025 it agreed to buy 100% of a pharmaceutical amino acid company for just over KRW 50.2 billion. The aim is to enter the market for materials used in medical infusions, patient nutrition and cell culture media for biopharmaceuticals.
  2. Targeting the Japanese market: in February 2026 it took part for the first time in SMTS 2026, Japan's largest food and retail trade show, presenting Jongga kimchi and gochujang.
  3. Restructuring: in 2025 it integrated and reorganized its headquarters, research center, business divisions and site organizations, and said it would exit businesses that do not fit its strategy.
Three people it will look for
  1. Overseas sales and localization staff — widening kimchi and sauce distribution in Japan, Europe and elsewhere
  2. Bio and pharmaceutical materials business development — opening sales channels to North America and Asia after the German acquisition
  3. Acquisition integration and business portfolio staff — integrating the acquired company and reshaping the business mix
For HR
Large food companies growing K-food exports are looking for the same overseas sales people, and on the pharmaceutical materials side it competes with bio materials companies. Now, in the first year of bringing in the acquired company, is the time to hire someone to lead integration.
For job seekers
Experience selling food in overseas local markets, or handling regulation and quality for pharmaceutical and bio materials, is highly valued at this company right now.
