Dongwon F&B — preparing the protein after canned tuna in its plants
- Where it stands now
- Expansion — opening the next chapter after domestic market leadership with a new plant and export products
Consolidated sales in 2025 were KRW 4.8777 trillion and operating profit KRW 193.8 billion.
Sales in the first half of 2026 were KRW 2.5674 trillion, up 9.2% from a year earlier, and operating profit rose 5.4% to KRW 93.5 billion.
According to Korea's National Pension Service public workplace data, the company had 2,880 people on the pension register in August 2026, 6 (0.2%) fewer than in October 2025, almost unchanged.
- Three decisions within a year
- Start of operations at Jincheon Plant 2: in June 2026 it completed a protein food plant with a total floor area of 26,446 m², built at a cost of KRW 140 billion. It produces 40 t (about 130,000 units) a day, and the company aims for KRW 300 billion in sales and an export share of 30% or more from this site by 2030.
- Better export quality for Yangban Gim: in August 2026 it applied nitrogen flushing to export Yangban Gim, extending shelf life from six to twelve months. Yangban Gim is supplied to some 30 countries, including the US, Japan and Thailand.
- Wider export regions: in April 2026 it said it would widen export routes to Europe, the Middle East and elsewhere, led by HMR, health drinks and pet food. Dongwon Tuna's exports in 2025 rose about 30% from a year earlier.
- Three people it will look for
- Plant production and quality manager — must run the 40 t-a-day lines at Jincheon Plant 2 reliably
- Overseas sales and exports — must widen exports of Jincheon products and Yangban Gim to Japan, China, the US and Europe
- Global product planning and packaging development — must create export products suited to long-distance shipping and each country's standards
- For HR
- Food plant production leaders and export sales staff are people that other large food companies seeking to grow overseas sales are also looking for. In the early days of the Jincheon plant, now is the time to hire people to run the lines and exports.
- For job seekers
- Experience starting up a processed seafood plant, or opening food export outlets yourself, is worth the most at this company right now.
